This mini-miniature epiphyte, growing on tree trunks in lowland and lower montane forests, often near water, at elevations of 900 to 1700 meters. It features small, tightly clustered pseudobulbs that each carry a single, tough, leathery, elliptic leaf. This plant has a creeping habit and is best grown mounted or in small pots.
- Light: Requires deep shade to bright, filtered light. Avoid all harsh, direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.
- Temperature: It's a warm to cool-growing species. Maintain temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). It thrives best in warm conditions but can tolerate a slight cooling at night.
- Humidity: High humidity is essential, ideally 70% or higher. Constant and excellent air circulation is critical to prevent fungal issues.
- Watering: Water frequently and liberally to ensure the potting medium remains perpetually moist. The plant is quite thirsty and should not be allowed to dry out completely.
Additional Notes
This orchid blooms by producing umbels of numerous small flowers (about 1.25 cm or 1/2 inch) held on a thin stem above the leaf. The flowers are typically pale yellow to white, often with a sweet, fruity, or vanilla fragrance.
