This historic and beautiful slipper orchid hybrid, is a primary cross between Phragmipedium longifolium and Phragmipedium Sedenii.

  • Light: Prefers moderate, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, especially during the hottest part of the day, as it can scorch the leaves. An east-facing window or a shaded south-facing window is often ideal.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures range between 18-24°C (65-75°F). Nighttime temperatures can drop slightly to 13-18°C (55-65°F), but it's not as critical as with some other orchid types.
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity, ideally between 60-80%. Good air circulation is crucial to prevent rot and other fungal diseases, especially in high-humidity environments.
  • Watering: Unlike many other orchids, Phragmipedium species prefer to be kept consistently moist. The potting medium should never be allowed to dry out completely. Water thoroughly and often, ensuring the pot has excellent drainage.

Additional Notes

  • Floral Characteristics: Phragmipedium Ainsworthii features elegant flowers with long greenish-yellow to reddish-brown petals and a vivid rose to hot pink pouch. This orchid offers a unique, graceful look and can bloom multiple flowers in sequence, prolonging its flowering period.
